2006.6.20 “From Akira to everyone”

It’s been a mighty long time since my last update.

I decided to update this blog with a word from my superior. I was talking to him yesterday on the phone and his words were “you’re being lazy”! Sorry Tsuguyuki (a.k.a. the supervisor)!
What have I been doing lately? Well, nothing special. Training… and yup, nothing more. I got married, gained a family to protect, and my mind for skiing is much higher than compared to before. You can count on me this season because I’m on the move with a brand new motivation.

Not being able to gain a medal at the Olympics was a mortifying experience for me which made me stronger. From here on, watch me over because I’m going to compete in every race, big or small, with a pursuit to “win” and to “leave myself in everyone’s memory”. I always have in mind that being able to compete at the top level is the utmost happiness. People watching me would probably want to see me win and I know second place is not as special as it used to be. My aim is to win! I don’t want to be satisfied with coming in a “fairly good place”.
When I was aiming for the top group, there were times when I thought about constantly placing in the top ten, but now, all that matters is “the win”! Even if I screw up 9 races out of 10, if I can make that one last race special, that’s cool! Anyway, I’m going to be starting this year with a fresh feeling and there may be times when you might blurt “Akira, use your head!”, but I’m going to go all the way, 100%. It’s going to be crazy fun if I can run through the season without considering the consequences.
My time to depart Japan is approaching, but while I’m here, I’m going to be training and having fun until I drop.
