I’m back in Innsbruck after the World Cup in Shiga and was just watching the Paralympics at home…just amazed at the sight of it.
I was just watching the alpine ski race for the blind who teams up with a partner in order to compete. It’s just astonishing! It’s near impossible for me to ski with my eyes closed by the voice of another person!
I sometimes ski with my eyes closed in a wide course as a part of my balance training, but the longest I could keep it closed was no more than 10 seconds. This is really something. Everyone just loves to ski. Handicapped or not, it doesn’t matter. Everyone just plain loves to do sports and to ski. That’s all that matters.
Oh, the chair skiers are on now. This is also fabulous. They’re so fast. They probably move their bodies the same way we do to ski. Watching everyone compete raised my motivation and made me feel that I’ve got to do my best as well.
I have one last race to compete in, in Sweden, and all I’ve got to do is give it my 100% and go offensively. Watching the Paralympics clicked my switch on! I might perform a all-or-nothing race.
Europe is still winter, so it seems I might be able to grasp some good powder snow.
